What we get called for most

New fridge. Same old kitchen. Nothing matches.

We build the panel that makes it match.

You replaced a dishwasher, or a fridge, or the whole run of appliances — and now there’s a stainless slab where a cabinet door used to be, or a panel that came with the appliance in a colour and profile that has nothing to do with the kitchen around it. The cabinets are fine. The kitchen is fine. One door is wrong, and the shop that built it closed, or the door style was discontinued, or nobody wants to quote a job that small. That is the job we want.

Panel-ready appliances

Dishwashers, fridge and freezer fronts, wine coolers, trash pull-outs. We cut the panel to the appliance manufacturer’s spec, in your door’s profile and species, and finish it to match what’s on your wall right now — including how that finish has aged.

Discontinued & one-off doors

A single door damaged, a cabinet added, a style the original shop no longer runs. We copy the profile off the door you already have and build its twin — one door, or a run of them. No minimum, no catalogue to pick from.

What we need from you

One existing door we can match against is worth more than any photo — loan us a spare or a cabinet door you can live without for a week. Failing that: a daylight photo of the run, the appliance make and model, and the opening dimensions. We’ll tell you honestly what we can match and what will read as new.

An honest word on matching: a finish that has lived in a kitchen for ten years has shifted — sun, steam, cooking, cleaners. A brand-new panel sprayed to the original formula will not look like its neighbours. We colour-match to the doors as they are today, not as they left the factory, and on a run that has aged hard we will tell you up front if refinishing the whole kitchen is the better call than chasing one panel.

Why "Abnormal Things"

The story so far

I've spent eighteen years building cabinets by hand, and another fourteen-plus years on the other side of the business — sourcing panel goods, hardware, and finishing systems for shops just like the one I'm building now. I've seen this trade from both ends: the bench and the supply chain.

Cousint's Custom Cabinets is what comes next. We're raising a dedicated shop on twelve acres in Candia, New Hampshire — timber included. A five-head moulder, a CNC router, and a laminate & veneer press are going in alongside a partnership with ApprenticeshipNH, so the next generation of cabinetmakers gets a real shop to learn in, not just a classroom. The building itself is designed to run on solar power and cold-climate heat pumps, with big, well-insulated windows for natural light and a view of the property we're building on.

My family and I bought this land in 2019, right before the pandemic hit, moving up from Connecticut for a job. It sits on Patten Hill — named for the family that settled this ground back in the 1700s — and it's still mostly woods today: old stone walls, a couple of ancient apple trees and lilacs, and the footprint of a one-room schoolhouse and farmstead that stood here a century ago and shows up on none of the maps since. Everything we're building starts from here.

The second half of the name isn't a joke. If it's made of wood and it's unusual, we'll figure out how to build it — right now that means a 14-foot stitch-and-glue skiff taking shape alongside the cabinet work. Bring us your kitchen. Bring us your weird idea. We're built for both.

What we do now

Kitchen refinishing & appliance panel matching

Finishing is what we do first and what we do best. Everything below is available today — no shop build required, no waiting on 2027.

Finishing & Kitchen Refinish

Spray finishing for doors, drawer fronts, and millwork, color matched to what you already have, plus full kitchen refinish jobs start to finish. Done in your shop, your kitchen, or ours.

Appliance Panel Matching

New dishwasher, fridge, or range and the face panel doesn't match your cabinets anymore? We cut and finish a replacement panel to match your existing style.

Millwork & Custom Mouldings

Running our own moulding profiles means matching existing trim, or creating a profile that doesn't exist yet.

Custom Milling

Rough lumber and live-edge slabs, sourced through local wholesalers, milled to the dimensions your project actually needs.

How it works

Your shop, your kitchen, or ours

You don’t need a booth of your own to get a sprayed finish.

Finishing is the step that holds up the most jobs. It wants clean air, a stable temperature, somewhere for parts to hang while they cure, and somebody who has sprayed enough doors to know what a coating is going to do before it does it. Most shops either can’t give up the room or don’t want to own the problem. So we work wherever the job actually is.

In your shop

The usual arrangement, and the cheapest one for you. We come to your shop with our own gun, our own coatings, and our own masking, and spray your doors, faces, and millwork in the space you already have. No freight, no parts leaving your building, no booth standing idle the rest of the month.

In your kitchen

Full kitchen refinish jobs for homeowners. Doors and drawer fronts come off and get sprayed properly; boxes and face frames get done in place, masked and controlled. Your kitchen stays where it is, and you keep the cabinets you already paid for.

In our shop

No space, no power, or a job that needs more control than a jobsite can give it? Send the parts to us. Racked, sprayed, and cured here, then packed back to you. Best fit for small batches, sample doors, and appliance panels.

Also available

Cut-to-size panels & parts — by quote

The precision work most contractors and DIYers can’t do cleanly at home. Quoted per job rather than off a price list — send us the sizes and we’ll come back with a number.

Panels, Rips & Closet Parts

Cabinet and closet panels cut to your exact dimensions, chip-free, edgebanded on the edges you choose, with 32mm shelf-pin drilling at the industry standard 5mm hole, 32mm on-center, 37mm setback. Long edgebanded rips up to 12′ for crosscutting on site. We cut it — you build it.

Door, Drawer & Face Frame Stock

5/8" × 2-1/4" drawer-box blanks from 14" up to 10′, dadoed on one long edge. Face frame stock in square, beaded, or custom profile. Prefinished drawer bottoms cut to size or by the full sheet. Baltic birch or solid maple, clear-coat finished.
